For five generations, this family has carried a simple yet powerful dream: to share the culture of quality. Their story began in Piedmont, Italy, where deep roots remain—symbolized by a 150-year-old Dolcetto vine that still thrives today.
Farmers at heart, they cultivate vineyards, hazelnuts, wheat, and sunflowers across the fertile landscapes of Naviante and Alta Langa. Their wines are bold and uncompromising, their hazelnuts carefully hand-selected, and their wheat and sunflowers thoughtfully grown—because they believe exceptional products begin with the soil.
Though their reach has expanded, their values remain steadfast: a profound respect for the land, a commitment to biodiversity, and a belief that tradition and innovation can flourish side by side.
For Francesca Mara, life has always been rooted in emotion, scent, and flavor. These sensory experiences have shaped her worldview from the very beginning.
As a child, she was captivated by the aromas of nature—most vividly, the scent of freshly harvested grapes in her grandfather’s winery, where tradition lived in every press and pour. Those early memories planted the seeds of a lifelong connection to the land.
Driven by curiosity and a passion for challenge, Francesca launched her wine project at a pivotal moment in her life—one marked by clarity, confidence, and a deep appreciation for beauty in all its forms. With a spirit that is both bold and grounded, she has grown into a distinctly enterprising woman.
“Francesca Mara” is more than a name; it’s a celebration of Italy’s agricultural soul. With great care, she has selected four wines that embody the best of Made in Italy—elegant expressions of heritage, terroir, and timeless craftsmanship.
Nestled in a rolling landscape where vineyards, woodlands, and farmland coexist in harmony, Cantine Bonelli is rooted in a naturally balanced ecosystem—a true model of biodiversity.
The estate lies on ancient gravelly soils, among the oldest in the region, framed by the dramatic magmatic peaks of the Pietra Parcellara, a striking landmark known for its raw beauty. Here, native grape varieties like Ortrugo and Malvasia di Candia thrive.
A breezy, crisp climate, combined with mineral-rich soil and generations of winemaking expertise, yields grapes with distinctive character. The result: wines that are not only expressive of their terroir but deeply authentic to their origins.
From a young age, a deep connection to the land shaped the path of the man behind La Sovana. In 1986, driven by a passion for nature and a desire for something of his own, he made the decision to leave his previous work with his brother Mauro and, together with his wife Giovannella, purchased the estate that would become La Sovana.
As the farm flourished, so did the dream. Just four kilometers away, a second opportunity took root with the acquisition of Le Buche. A 2-hectare vineyard was planted, and with the help of his son Riccardo, a new wine project was born—one inspired by their guests’ love for authentic Tuscan wine and cuisine.
Today, that same family passion continues to guide both estates, blending tradition with innovation to share the richness of Tuscany through wine, food, and heartfelt hospitality.
Forty years ago, Antonio and Gloria discovered an ancient religious settlement nestled in lush, timeless surroundings. Moved by its quiet beauty and historical charm, they fell in love—and with deep conviction, set out to restore it to its former glory. They believed such a place was too special to be forgotten.
Today, their daughter Gaia continues the dream, joined by her brother Nicolò. Together, they have transformed the estate into a contemporary winery—one that honors its past while embracing the future. The result is a place where history, wine, and nature come together in perfect harmony, ready to welcome anyone who steps through its gates.
